A Nearsighted Future
This project is an interactive installation combining psychology and computer art. It uses visual simulation and interactive technology to depict the experience of time blindness in ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) patients. Time blindness is a psychological state characterized by blurred and fragmented time perception, making it difficult for individuals to plan for the future. The installation aims to help users deeply experience the effects of time blindness, fostering understanding of the ADHD community while encouraging reflection on the relationship between time and self-management.
Interaction
As the user's hand moves closer to the clock, the time display becomes clearer; when the hand moves away, the clock gradually returns to a blurred state.
When the user tries to maintain the clock's clarity by keeping their hand close for an extended period, the time still reverts to being blurred.
The core interaction of the installation is realized through a simulated clock: a frosted acrylic surface creates a blurred visual effect, paired with an Arduino-controlled ultrasonic sensor. As the user approaches the clock, the time gradually becomes clear but then returns to being blurred. This interaction symbolizes the fleeting nature of time as one tries to grasp it, prompting users to reflect on the essence of time.
