Cosmic Tides
Cosmic Tides is an interactive audio-visual art work that metaphorically represents planetary evolution and emotional equilibrium. It reflects this core idea: Everyone's life experience is a miniature cosmos.
In my work, real-time interaction is achieved through gesture recognition, measuring the distance and rotation angle between the thumb and index finger. One hand controls the overall zoom and volume, while the other hand adjusts the degree of particle dispersion and contraction, as well as switches between different states.
In the first state, the particles are cool-toned and confined within a square, while in the second state, the particles are warm-toned and can move beyond the wireframe. The wireframe itself also transforms from a rigid square into a flowing hexahedron.
In essence, this is a metaphor about the balance of yin and yang: using planets as an example, the core represents positive aspects (such as courage and passion), while the outer layer represents negative aspects (such as caution and calmness). These two must maintain an appropriate proportion to achieve an ideal state.
Like Earth's harmonious state, it is neither too radical like Mercury nor too conservative like Neptune, but develops in dynamic equilibrium. This state changes with life experiences, potentially shifting toward either extreme or returning to balance.
