Cascading Order
Cascading Order is an playful interactive computer art piece that explores the balance between order and chaos, reflecting the ADHD experience. Falling CascdeRects symbolize the breakdown of structure, while viewers engage through facial and hand gesture recognition—spitting out new shapes and catching them with dynamic chains.

As I delved into machine learning, I further enhanced the project by incorporating facial and hand gesture recognition. Now, viewers can "spit out" falling CascdeRects by opening their mouths, while their hand gestures create chains to catch them. This addition enriches the interactive experience, transforming the work into a humorous yet expressive exploration of how ADHD individuals play with, navigate, and redefine chaos on their own terms.
Initially, I used p5.js to create a visual representation of structured geometric shapes gradually disintegrating, falling apart, and breaking their original arrangement. This symbolizes the struggle of ADHD individuals trying to maintain order while experiencing a loss of control.
Later, I integrated the matter.js physics engine, transforming the work from static imagery into a dynamic interactive experience. CascdeRects now continuously fall under the influence of gravity, while chains generated through hand gestures attempt to catch them. Here, chaos is no longer just a loss of control—it becomes an engaging, playful interaction. This reflects how ADHD individuals, despite struggling between order and disorder, use their unique way of thinking and creativity to turn uncertainty into something fun and meaningful.
